We’ve just spent four days working with the guys from Aquila Racing Cars, Birmingham City University (BCU from now on!) and Aarhus Tech in Denmark on their combined stand at the Autosport show. We were there as part of ‘Aquila UK’ not only to raise awareness and try to sell some more cars into the UK market but also to help our partners at BCU attract students for their degree course in motorsport technologys, although whether the presence of Paul and Matt would have the desired effect is up for debate! What is certain is that the beautifully prepared CR1 LS7 that Dan had bought all the way from the factory in Denmark certainly drew a crowd, no surprise to all of us who are used to the attention that these cars always get.
Thursday and Friday were trade days and we met with a number of potential buyers and saw some old friends from the racing world as well as making some great new contacts from within the motorsport industry. Saturday and Sunday were for the public and gave us the chance to ‘share’ the CR1 with as many people as possible, if there is a single boy or girl under 12 who didn’t get to sit in the car I’d be really surprised! Unlike many of the teams and companies who had cars on display we don’t have barriers stopping people from getting a closer look and actively encourage people to try the drivers seat out for themselves and it wasn’t just the kids, most of the Dads and some of the Mums wanted to see what it was like to get a drivers eye view!
