The engine and new gearbox are now in the Red C, a couple of small modifications were needed to allow the ‘box to fit as there are a couple of small design differences between the Tran-x gearbox and the Ford unit on which it is based, but it all went pretty much according to plan. We have also done the majority of the pre-season prep and the car is now back with Mass Racing (the engine builders) for them to set it up on their dyno, this is needs to be done again as it has a new cam etc. We expect to have it back with us by Wednesday and aim to do a days testing early next week in preparation for the first race on the 9th of April. In the mean time we will be doing the pre season work on Bluebell early in the week ready for the test day at Snetterton on Thursday the 31st, there isn’t a huge amount to do as the car hasn’t been used since the engine blew up at the pre season test day last year but there are a couple of jobs to do to bring the car up to date with a couple of changes in the regs. The Grey Whale’s bodyshell is ready to go in to the spray booth to be painted Monday/Tuesday. We have started to fit the polybush kit into the suspension and will be getting ready to start re assembly at the start of April. Our secret engine builder (C R) is expecting the new pistons to arrive this week and has had the crank balanced and the rest of the machining done and will soon be ready to start building the Whale engine up again.
