Matt made a trip down to Kent today to the HQ of’Team Hard’ the BTCC and VW Cup team to pick up the ex Tom Barley Peugeot 205. We actually owned this car before and sold it to Tom’s dad Jeff (a good friend of Scruffy Motorsport) for Tom to get his first taste of racing in. Tom had some good successes in the car in the CSCC Tin Tops and the MSVR Trackday Trophy and having learned his race craft moved up to racing in the family 67 Camaro and then the VW cup with the aforementioned team Hard.
The 205 was gathering dust in the teams workshop and Jeff was keen for it to go to a good home so a deal was done! We’ve always had a soft spot for 205s, particularly this one which is a well sorted and competitive car. Since leaving our custody the guys have made some changes which have improved the car but unfortunately, the very strong engine that was in there when we owned it before expired in a race and the replacement feels a little down on power by comparison but as we would expect from Jeff and Tom its clearly been well looked after and we can’t wait to get it out on track again.
