Result: 11th overall, 4th in class
Mike felt that the new rear suspension was perhaps too soft and the ride height was a little high which was causing the rear of the car to move around more than he’d like but despite this he got a blinding start and was up to 13th from 17th on the grid by the end of the first lap! He was battling with the number 58 Jaguar right up to the pitstop and managed to take the place on his in lap. A near perfect stop meant he only lost two places and was out just ahead of the Jag who still had to make their stop which then put them almost half a lap behind Mike. We’d had a problem with the bonnet catch in qualifying which unfortunately reoccurred in the race causing the bonnet to open and remove itself from the car! fortunately no damage was done to the C and no one was hit by the flying body panel although it was then run over by a following car! Mike didn’t bat an eyelid and carried on to 11th place and 4th in Class D. Shorter and stiffer rear springs are on order!
