Mark and Matt decided to qualify on dry tyres and sure enough the rain started as soon as Matt was out on track! It was very slippery and discretion being the better part of valour Matt decided to play it safe for the first part of the session which saw several more adventurous cars ending up in the kitty litter. The resulting safety cars meant that Matt didn’t really get a chance to get in any quick laps and by the time he handed over to Mark they were a slightly disappointing 20th overall.
Mark had a slightly clearer track but by then the rain was getting heavier and then the safety car came out again effectively ending the session. Fortunately Mark had been able to make up a couple of places to 18th by then.
