Although Mike was pleased with the result of the Anglesey races the weekend was not without it’s issues.
We have been trying to pin down a problem with the C’s charging system since we had a problem with it at Brands Hatch earlier in the season. Initially we diagnosed it as an alternator problem and to begin with it did seem as though replacing the alternator had rectified it but since then the problem has reoccured, but only intermittently and seemingly only during races, so far we have been unable to duplicate the conditions that cause the problem in the workshop. This has made it very difficult to find a fix for it!
Mike also reported that the gearbox was misbehaving, he found it increasingly difficult to engage first or reverse gears and said that the gearbox was becoming noisy.
As a result we have removed the engine and box (the box has been sent back to Tran-X) and we are relocating the battery as well as re wiring the entire ignition/charging circuit. As we aren’t sure when the Tran-X gearbox is likely to be back we will reinstall the Ford T9 for the next race.
All good fun!
