It was a last minute decision whether to run wet or dry tyres for qually as the rain had been coming down since about 7 am but as 9 o’clock approached the sky was lightening so Mike decided to stay on the drys. This proved a good decision as the rain held off until late in the session by which time mike had secured 12th on the grid, a good result for the car. Things never go 100% according to plan though, having stopped the engine in the put lane it then refused to start. The problem has been traced to a duff alternator, operatives have been dispatched to obtain a replacement and we were confident it would be ready to race.
In the event it came down to the wire again! Rob was unable to locate an alternator at the local factors so returned to the circuit empty handed. Fortunately another competitor had an alternator they were able to lend us and we managed to get it fitted and the car started as they were calling the final few cars to assembly for the race.
