Qualifying:
Tony’s car was not going to be ready for this race following the engine failure at Snetterton so for this race he was sharing Bluebell with Matt. Matt went out and put in the three laps he needed to complete to qualify (the minimum that both drivers need to do to be allowed to race) and then handed the car over to Tony who had never driven Bluebell before! He got to grips with the car very quickly and was putting in good and consistent lap times and the boys were pleased with qualifying 4th in class C.
Mike was still getting used to the changed handling of the C following the suspension changes carried out over the winter and still didn’t think he was getting the most from the car but still was happy with 15th on the grid and 4th in his class in the Gp2 race.
Race:
Mike made up two places on the first lap and by the time he came in for his stop on lap 9 he was running 12th, after the stop he is usually faster than in the first half of the race and true to form he set his quickest lap on lap 29, unusually though his second and third fasted were all earlier in the race. A good race coupled with a quick pitstop which saw him finish 9th overall and 3rd in class D.

Matt took the first stint in Bluebell and made up a few places on the opening laps, following another quick driver change Tony took over and didn’t put a foot wrong in the second half of the race. This was a bit of a test as it was the first outing for bluebell on brand new front suspension and both drivers felt that while the handling was good, the springs were too hard and would need to be changed for the next race. The boys were pleased to finish 10th overall.
